Goal Setting is essential before you start training. Using these five points, you can break down your goal and see how achievable it may be. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-bound. Specific: A goal should be clear and well-defined, answering the questions of what, why, and how. It should avoid ambiguity and be specific in terms of the desired outcome. For example: lose body weight Measurable: A goal should include criteria for measuring progress and determining when it has been achieved. Quantifiable measurements provide clarity and allow you to track your progress. For example: Lose 5kgs of body weight Attainable: A goal should be realistic and achievable, considering the resources, skills, and time available. It should stretch your abilities but remain within reach. For example: I have 5kgs to lose, and I’ll still be healthy. I am not injured and can commit the time. Relevant: A goal should be relevant to your objectives, aligning with your aspirations and priorities. It should be meaningful and significant in the broader context of your goal. For example: I need to be healthier and want to feel more confident in my body. Time-bound: A goal should have a specific timeframe or deadline by which it should be achieved. Setting a time limit creates urgency and helps you stay focused and accountable. For example: I want to accomplish this in 10 weeks. Goal: I want to lose 5kgs of body weight in 10 weeks, as I need to be healthier and feel more confident. I know I can commit due to having sufficient time, and I am not injured. It’s important to do the steps for long-term and short-term goals. Ensure your long-term goal is achievable in a healthy manner. Breaking down the short-term goal into a bigger goal. For example: I want to lose 25 kg of body weight in 6 months, as I need to be healthier and feel more confident. Breaking the 25kgs into 5kg increments helps it feel more achievable than setting a time frame for the mini goals, which works with the long-term goal. By following these steps, you can create well-defined, measurable, realistic goals aligned with your priorities and desires. This approach increases the chances of success and enables effective planning and tracking of your progress.
