What Is an Online Fitness Coach?

An online fitness coach is someone who will provide full support to help you get through your workouts, stay on plan, and achieve your goals. A qualified coach will provide you with the tools and education you need to reach your health and fitness goals. Often providing an online community where you can chat with other members of the team, and share their goals, progress, and any tips of their own.

Every coach runs their online programs a bit differently, but every one of us is providing our clients with fitness and nutrition guidance, detailed workout plans tailored to your specific goals, ongoing support, and a virtual kick in the ass. It can be as simple as e-mail-based coaching, or as in-depth as video coaching sessions coupled with a specialised app you use to access workouts, track progress, and report to your coach.

You have your own personalised program which is constructed by Coach Nicola to ensure you’re working towards your goals. This is based on your experience, your goals, injuries and equipment you have available. This is on the app trainerize, which allows you to record the weights and reps you lifted, add comments to your workout and see any personal bests you are making. On the app we track your progress, measurements, progress photos and weight. Allowing you to see all your progress in one place.

Nutritional guidance is included in your online coaching, this is key to any goal. Feeling good comes from within, and it is important for us to give you the education behind nutrition. We will be helping guide you to eat better, feel better and maintain a healthy balance with food. Because how good is food. We should be enjoying it and just optimising it to achieve our goals.

Every week you do complete a check in, allowing your coach to make a new plan of attack for the week ahead. Going through all lifestyle aspects such as: sleep, hydration, nutrition, mindset and training methods. Looking at all aspects of your wellness. Clients have 1:1 access to the coach, and the ability to learn, ask all the questions without judgement. Because at Fit N Fearless we are dedicated to education.

What are some of the reasons you would hire an online coach?

Cost: Often you will pay anywhere up to $150 for a 1:1 personal trainer per week, restricted on the time you see them and if you miss a session you lose it. Rather than booking hour-long sessions at the gym each week, online coaches can provide ongoing (and better!) support as you work toward your goals.

Time: With an online coach you have the ability to train when you want, at a location you want, and the flexibility to not lose a session if you sleep in. Do not get me wrong, 1:1 personal training sessions are perfect for learning the right technique and building your confidence in the gym (as well as many other things) but if time is limited for you it will not be the right option for you to get to your goals. Health and fitness has to fit into your lifestyle, not take over it.

Location:  You don’t need to go to a gym, if you don’t want to! Many of my clients’ train in their own homes for various reasons, like taking care of young children, living in remote locations with no gyms available, or just simple convenience. You can still reach your fitness with the right set of body weight moves coupled with a few simple (and inexpensive) pieces of equipment.

Convenience: Having your coach in your pocket all day, everyday, is very convenient. You can ask as many questions as you wish, and you always have your program ready to go. If you work FIFO (Aussies know this one), are away on holiday, moving from different locations regularly, or have a crazy work schedule, you will always have access to your fitness plan.
