The lats are the biggest muscle in your back so to create some nice width and grow those wings it’s important we are using the right muscles!1. Not having any control: pulling the bar down as quick as possible and letting it drag you up is not keeping tension on your muscle and can cause serious injury!
2. Pulling down too low: rotating your shoulders forward and pulling the bar down so you’re not even using your lats anymore. The bar should only come to just below your chin, and elbows should come into your ribs.
3. Not pulling your shoulders down: pulling your shoulders down will have your lats doing all the work, and you shouldn’t feel it in your shoulders if you do it properly! The bar should travel in a straight line, traveling in front of your face.
Contracting the correct muscle is so important for growth and getting the most out of the exercise you are doing.
